VPD Briefs
Welcome Veronica DeBellis Lopez as the Cimbalo Fitness Center Director
Veronica graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Administra- tion from University of Phoenix
in Schaumburg, IL. She has previously worked at Addison Park District, for over six years as the Front Desk Operations Supervisor.
She was responsible for the
hiring, training, scheduling and
supervising customer service
staff/front desk at all locations at
Club Fitness, Links & Tees (Golf),
and Administrative building. She has supervised daily operations at a  tness center and managed wellness/ tness programs for the district, as well as promos and sales initiatives Club Fitness and Links & Tees.
Veronica’s experiences range from Salon Owner to Business Analyst in Corporate America at Premier Health Alliance in Oak Brook. She has a passion for helping people discover the many health bene ts of  tness for overall physical and emotional well-being.
Veronica begins her journey at Veterans Park District to help provide  tness programs and opportunities for a healthier community.
Special Olympics 2019 Summer Games
This year, VPD sent  ve Bocce players and four Track and Field athletes to compete in the Summer Games in Normal Illinois. Our Uni ed players did very well in Bocce this year. A Uni ed team con- sists of one special needs athlete and one non-special needs athlete for doubles or two and two for team play. Missy Broz and Uni ed Partner, Timothy Breslin, won Silver Medals in Doubles and Bronze Medals in Team. Shelly Coleman and Uni ed Partner Bryonna Bry- ant won Gold Medals in Doubles and Bronze Medals in Team. David Peters won a Silver Medal in Traditional Bocce Singles.
Ersilia Cesario won a Gold Medal in the 400 meter race walk, female division. Thomas Penton won a Silver Medal in the male division Softball Throw and Tyler Brownlee won a Bronze Medal in the Soft- ball Throw. Lazerrick Fields won a 5th place ribbon in the 100 Meter Run and a 6th place ribbon in the Softball Throw.
Each of these athletes had to win a Gold Medal in their events at the Regional Level to qualify for the S.O. State Summer Games. To cel- ebrate a fun weekend and their successes at the Summer Games, the team and coaches, Mike Lund and Becky Ronneberg, went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast before they returned home.

2019 Summer Special Recreation Carnival
On Saturday, June 1, the Special Recreation Department kicked
off its 2019 Summer Carnival at Trumbull Park. This free event was open to our community of all abilities. Over 100 families and friends came out to enjoy great food, live entertainment, music, games, raf es and more.
We are always excited and pleased to provide our communities with this great event!
