Preventive Steps for COVID-19

The safety of our residents and patrons is the Park District’s first priority. Veterans Park District is closely monitoring information from the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for best practices and procedures regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Outbreak. At this time, there are no known cases reported in our area.

The CDC has advised that since there is no anti-viral prevention treatment currently available for the virus, taking common sense precautions is the best approach to adopt such as:

·        Stay home if you are sick.

·        Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or with your sleeve.

·        Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

·        Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

·        Wash your hands often with soap and water.

·        Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60-95% alcohol if washing your hands with soap and water is not an option.

·        Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects in your home such as TV remotes, cell phones and computers.

·        Upon entering any Park District facility or attending any Park District program, please wash your hands.

Veterans Park District is taking a number of measures to prevent the spread of the virus:

·        Posters encouraging precautionary steps are posted at the entrance to all building entrances and restrooms.

·        Instructors will be arriving early to class to wipe down equipment and surfaces.

·        Tissues and no-touch disposal receptacles will be available in all facilities.

·        Soap and water and alcohol-based liquid will be available at all park district sites.

·        Park District staff and contractors will be frequently disinfecting doors, surfaces, equipment and public spaces.

We will continue to monitor updates about the coronavirus from local, state and federal agencies, and will keep you informed should recommendations change.
